Exploring Camera Angles
Exploring Camera Angles: A Short Film Project
On October 1, 2024, in our Media Studies lesson, my colleague Razvan and I created a short film to explore different camera angles. This project allowed us to experiment and see how camera angles can shape a story.
Concept and Planning
We wanted to showcase various angles—like high shots, low shots, and over-the-shoulder perspectives. Each angle was chosen for the emotions it could evoke. After writing our script, we made a shot list to plan our filming.
Filming Process
During the shoot, we had fun trying out different angles. A low-angle shot made one character seem powerful, while a high-angle shot showed another’s vulnerability. Razvan operated the camera, and I focused on directing to capture our vision.
Editing and Reflection
In post-production, we selected the best takes and added sound and music. Watching everything come together was exciting and taught us a lot about how angles affect storytelling.
This project was a great learning experience for both of us. We realized that camera angles are crucial for creating mood and meaning in film. We can’t wait to share our work with the class and look forward to future projects that build on what we learned. Here it is:
